As a JGU student, you receive several documents such as your semester ticket and student ID card every semester. You can find a lot of helpful information on this page.
The enrollment certificates certify your status as a student. You will receive three documents which you can use for different purposes:
- Core personal data sheet including all of the personal information we have for you
- Detailed enrollment certificate with information on your subject and academic semesters (e.g., for the Bafög office)
- Document certifying your student status without naming your program of study
These documents can be found in one PDF file in JOGU-StINe (“Service” > “My documents”)
Enrollment certificates have been made available online on JOGU-StINe since the summer semester of 2016.
Do you need enrollment certificates for semesters prior to the 2016 summer semester or are you unable to access JOGU-StINe because you have been exmatriculated for more than six months? In these cases, you will have to apply for a duplicate copy for a fee. One certificate costs EUR 15, each additional certificate EUR 4.
You will need to transfer the duplicate copy fee to:
Recipient: StudS Uni Mainz
BIC: MALADE51WOR (Rheinhessen Sparkasse)
IBAN: DE05 5535 0010 0200 0184 06
Reference: Zweitschrift +name + student ID number
Send us the payment confirmation along with a scan of your identity card via email to studsek@uni-mainz.de. The duplicate copy will be sent to you via email.
All information about the Deutschland-Semesterticket can be found here.
Once you have been enrolled, you can access your student ID card in the JGU ID card app JGU Ausweise. In the following semesters, your student ID will be available in the app right after you re-register.
If you need printed proof of your status as a JGU student, use your enrollment certificate, which is made available in English and German. You can download it from JOGU-StINe.
The Data Center has collected all the important information on the JGU ID card app . This includes the minimum technical requirements your smartphone must meet.
If you are no longer enrolled at JGU and need a certification of your study periods for your statutory pension insurance carrier, you can request it using our online form.
To comply with data protection regulations, we require a scan or copy of your identity card in order to be able to process your application. You can send it to us via email, fax (+49 6131-39-25402) or post. In order to be able to connect it to your application, please include the abbreviation “DRV”(Deutsche Rentenversicherung) either on the page or in the email subject line.
You can request reimbursement of your semester fee or tuition fees for various reasons:
- If you were exmatriculated at the end of the semester but already paid the semester fee for the coming semester
- If you are exmatriculating with immediate effect by April 30th (summer semester) or October 31st (winter semester)
- If you were not re-enrolled/re-registered despite having transferred the fee(s)
- If you transferred the fee(s) twice or transferred too much
- If you are obligated to pay the tuition fee but were granted an academic leave of absence. In this case, you can only be reimbursed for the tuition fee
- If you waive your spot at the university after you have already been enrolled but before the beginning of the lecture period
You can apply for exmatriculation via JOGU-StINe. Make sure you pay attention to the deadlines for exmatriculation and reimbursement.
If you have a digital semester ticket, you do not have to apply for reimbursement separately. We will reimburse you for the semester fee automatically and invalidate your digital semester ticket.
If you are entitled to reimbursement, the relevant sum will automatically be transferred back to the account it was transferred from. The reimbursement is generally completed within eight weeks. If your bank account information has changed, please send an email with the updated information to studsek@uni-mainz.de.
I did not get my digital semester ticket yet. What can I do?
If you re-enrolled by the correct deadline and have received your enrollment certificates for the next semester in JOGU-StINe, your digital semester ticket will be available in the Mainzer Mobilität Campusportal.
I am a student in Germersheim. Who can answer my questions about the regional transit ticket?
Students of Faculty 06 (Germersheim campus) can have their questions about the semester ticket answered by the Student Service Center there. You can also find information on the semester ticket on the AStA website (link in German).
What can I do if my cell phone is too old?
If your smartphone is too old or does not meet the necessary requirements, we will not be able to provide your student ID and semester ticket electronically. The printed enrollment certificate serves as proof of your student status. For a printed semester ticket, please contact Mainzer Mobilität.
I was not able to show the ticket inspector my ticket due to technical problems. What can I do?
If you use regional transportation (ÖPNV), you must be in possession of a valid ticket. Therefore, make sure your digital semester ticket can be accessed and your phone is sufficiently charged before you begin your journey.

How can I apply for reimbursement of the semester ticket portion of the semester fee from the AStA?
Submit your application to the AStA Verkehrsreferat , which is responsible for student transportation. If your application is approved, we will invalidate your digital semester ticket.
When will I be able to view my student ID card for the next semester?
Your student ID card for the next semester can be viewed soon after you successfully re-register.
Does my phone have to be connected to the internet for me to access my student ID card?
Your phone must be connected to the internet via WiFi or mobile data in order to access your student ID card. Once you have accessed it, your student ID card can be viewed for the next 24 hours even if your cell phone is not connected to the internet. You must therefore regularly access your IDs via the internet.
